Nikon Instruments names new president

JULY 3--Nikon Instruments Inc. (Melville, NY) has appointed Hiro Kusaka as president and chief executive officer.

JULY 3--Nikon Instruments Inc. (Melville, NY; www.nikonusa.com) has appointed Hiro Kusaka as president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Takeshi Hirai, who was recently named president of Nikon Geotecs Co. Ltd. in Japan.

In his new role, Kusaka will be responsible for sales, customer service, and new product development, as well as expanding Nikon's digital applications business in the science and industrial markets. He began his career with Nikon in 1974 after graduating from Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan). Most recently, he was general manager of the Nikon Instruments Co. in Japan, where he was responsible for Nikon's expansion of its worldwide instruments business.

Nikon Instruments Inc. is a worldwide supplier of precision optics, which include microscopes for bioscience research and industrial applications; high-performance semiconductor wafer handling and inspection equipment; high-speed, vision-based and optical measuring tools; land surveying instruments; and diagnostic equipment for optometrists.
