MAY 6--The date of VISION 2002, 15th International Trade Fair for Machine Vision and Identification Technologies, has been changed. Because hall 5.0, which was used for the first time last year, is not available during the originally scheduled period, VISION 2002 will now be held at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from 12 to 14 November 2002.
This industry get-together for all machine-vision manufacturers and users has been attracting increasing numbers of both exhibitors and trade-fair visitors in recent years. It is regarded throughout Europe as the leading trade fair for the machine-vision industry. Last year, 173 exhibitors from 18 countries presented their products and system solutions in Stuttgart, and almost 5000 trade-fair visitors from the main procurement industries attended.
The focus of VISION 2002 is on image-processing applications and components. It also includes measuring instruments used in almost all branches of industry, for example, production and medical technology and safety systems for which machine-vision systems carry out inspection, measuring, and test functions in continuous processes. This is a market that has been steadily growing for many years, but its potential has only been tapped to a rate of 15% to 20%. In 2001, the 250 German companies in the machine-vision industry generated sales amounting to DM1.4 billion, or more than 700 million Euro.
