FEBRUARY 11--The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), one of the largest nonprofit integrated health-care systems in the country, has successfully deployed Stentor's iSite medical image and information management system--running on IBM servers and storage--across 10 of UPMC's affiliated hospitals. iSite is managing the distribution, storage, and primary diagnostic read of more than 1 million annual exams across the 10 hospitals with more than 12,000 registered users.

Stentor's iSite PACS moves UPMC to a "filmless" environment and provides doctors with access to patient image and information from any standard computer within the hospital system. This improves patient care by delivering critical information to where the patient and doctor are located, rather than waiting for results to be processed and delivered. The system also stores the images and patient information online so that they can be accessed at any time.

iSite runs and stores images on IBM's eServer xSeries for online access to all patient data. Stentor's iSite provides a 99.99% uptime guarantee and is monitored 24/7/365 by Stentor's Heatbeat Customer Care Center. iSite is also supported by IBM Global Services for off-site disaster recovery back-up storage using the IBM TotalStorage LTO library.
