JANUARY 13, 2010--DiCon LED (Richmond, CA, USA) has formed a new sales distributorship with Edmund Optics (Barrington, NJ, USA), a provider of optical and imaging components, as worldwide distributor of DiCon's microscope LED illuminator product line.
An LED array technology company, DiCon LED selected Edmund Optics to be its distribution partner due to the company's application experience in illumination and imaging for the electronics, semiconductor, and biomedical markets. By combining DiCon's advanced LED technology with Edmund Optics' market presence and knowledge, DiCon says it will be better able to serve the industrial markets.
"Given Edmund Optics' broad customer base, DiCon will be able to respond quickly to changes in customer requirements and requests for new features, in the very demanding industrial solid-state lighting markets," says Robert Schleicher, DiCon's vice president of product development.
Edmund Optics will first carry DiCon's new microscope illuminators, featuring high-brightness LED arrays with multiple mounting options, several output choices, and dynamic control options for microscopy and machine-vision applications. The fiberoptic illuminators replace halogen or xenon illuminators to grant the benefits of LED technology, including color-changing ability, adjustment of white-light color temperature, low power consumption, and little heat. The programming options on the illuminator allow the user to specify and tailor color, intensity, and time duration of the light output for the user's particular application.
