The Next Generation EL Display Consortium, of which Planar Systems (Beaverton, OR) is the managing partner, has received a $16 million contract from DARPA for further development of active-matrix electroluminescent (EL) miniature displays, EL color displays, and next-generation EL manufacturing process development.

Alex Informatics Inc. (Montreal, Canada) has been awarded a $10 million, five-year contract to supply commercial-off-the-shelf Sharc-based products to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Bethesda, MD. The products include building blocks for developing, prototyping, and producing advanced digital-signal-processing applications for shipboard sonar, simulation, and training systems.
