Engineers offer high-speed imaging workshop targeted at ballistics applications

Engineers from Vision Research (Wayne, NJ, USA) have teamed up with counterparts at the Colorado School of Mines (Golden, CO, USA) to create a short four-day, hands-on workshop on high-speed imaging that will focus on explosives and ballistic applications.

Engineers from Vision Research (Wayne, NJ, USA) have teamed up with counterparts at the Colorado School of Mines (Golden, CO, USA) to create a short four-day, hands-on workshop on high-speed imaging that will focus on explosives and ballistic applications. Both fundamental theory as well as practical training will be conducted at the Colorado School of Mines' Explosive Research Laboratory in Idaho Springs between September 13-16, 2011.

The course has been designed to teach engineers, scientists, and students how to understand, analyze, and solve a range of problems. Topics to be covered will include detonation and shock wave physics, selection of explosives, scaling experiments for high-speed imaging, lighting and lens selection, and analysis of high-speed imagery.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to work one-on-one with instructors in special evening sessions that are designed to find solutions to their specific challenges.

The course may also be of interest to crime and accident investigators, or anyone concerned with the regulatory and environmental issues involved in use of high-speed imaging and motion analysis.
