FEBRUARY 10--Automated Vision Systems (Los Gatos, CA), a consulting company specializing in machine vision, has launched a new, free, on-line course covering the fundamentals of machine vision. The course is available on the company's Web site: www.autovis.com; follow the link for education and training.

"This course is a resource that meets a long-standing need to help people becoming involved with machine vision. For the first time they can quickly and conveniently familiarize themselves with machine vision," said Perry West, president of Automated Vision Systems. "The course is appropriate for engineers, students, researchers, technicians, managers, supervisors, sales people, and factory workers."

The course covers what machine vision is, how machine vision works, the different types of machine-vision systems, and what machine vision can do. It provides a brief quiz at the end to enable the learner to check their knowledge of the material. People taking the course can download and print a 36-page monograph of the course material for continuing reference.
