June 18, 2019
The new platform will be designed with autonomous trucking in mind.

The development of an autonomous driving system is the goal of a new partnership announced today between NVIDIA and the Volvo Group. NVIDIA personnel in Santa Clara, California, USA will immediately begin collaborating with Volvo Group personnel in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Volvo Group seeks to develop an autonomous driving system to be used first in commercial pilots, and later in commercial offerings, with an eye toward trucking applications. The system will be designed using NVIDIA's full software stack for sensor processing, perception, map localization, and path planning.

NVIDIA will also lend to the development project accelerated computing technology for training deep neural networks, large-scale simulation software, and the NVIDIA DRIVE platform for 360° sensor processing, mapping, and path planning.
