3D scanner from AICON features adaptive full color projection

Read about AICON's new 3D scanner, the stereoSCAN neo, which features either two 8 MPixel digital cameras, or two 12 MPixel digital cameras, with which it is possible to visualize the results of a measurement directly on the object.

AICON has announced the release of the stereoSCAN neo 3D scanner, which is a further development of the company’s stereoSCAN system series.

Previously, stereoSCAN systems utilizedfringe projection that was dependent on the surface properties of the scanning object, with the color and reflection properties of the surface affecting the quality of a measurement. The new stereoSCAN neo uses a digital adaptive full color projection technique that provides the necessary rectification by using color and intensity control to optimally adjust to surface properties. AICON touts a new "See What You Measure," principle, which suggests that it is possible to visualize the results of a measurement directly on the object.

The stereoSCAN neo is available with either two 8 MPixeldigital cameras, or two 12 MPixel digital cameras, and also features measurement fields of 75 mm up to 1,100 mm and minimum point distances of either 18 µm or 12 µm. In addition, the white light scanners feature GigE and FireWire B interfaces and an edge detection software module, while running on OPTOCAT 3D image processing software.
