Xenics’ Tigris-640, a mid-wave infrared (MWIR) camera aimed at applications including medical imaging, industrial process monitoring, non-destructive testing, research and development, and thermography, has received Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) approval and thus is no longer limited by ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restrictions.

Xenics’Tigris-640, a mid-wave infrared (MWIR) camera aimed at applications including medical imaging, industrial process monitoring, non-destructive testing, research and development, and thermography, has received Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) approval and thus is no longer limited by ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restrictions.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations, published by the US Government, control the export and import of defense-related products, including infrared cameras. With the Tigris-640 receiving CJ approval, however, it becomes the only ITAR-free MWIR camera in the US, according to Xenics.

The Tigris-640 is available in GigE Vision or Camera Link versions and features either an InSb or MCT infrared detector in a 640 x 512 format, with a pixel pitch of 15 µm: Tigris-640-MCT (3.7 – 4.8 µm spectral band), Tigris-640-MCT-BB (BroadBand) (1.5 – 6 µm), Tigris-640-InSb (3.6 – 4.9 µm), and Tigris-640-InSb-Bb (1.5 – 5.4 µm.) The Stirling-cooled cameras also feature a motorized filter wheel, external triggering, frame rates up to 250 fps in full frame, and a temperature measurement accuracy of +/- 2˚ C or +/- 2%.
