MVTec announces HALCON compatibility with MIPI standard

Oct. 7, 2019

MVTec Software has announced that its HALCON machine vision software has been tested and is compatible with the MIPI transmission standard, which paves the way for incorporating HALCON into embedded vision applications.

Tests on HALCON ver. 19.05 were conducted using the VC MIPI OV 9281 camera, running on Raspberry Pi 3 and 4. The MIPI IM290 module from The Imaging Source, running on an NIVIDIA Jetson Nano via FPD-Link III, with cable lengths up to 15 meters, was also tested with HALCON ver 19.05. Both tests demonstrated successful compatibility with the camera modules.

The Video4Linux and GenTL interfaces, and shared memory access, can be used to enable HALCON to acquire and process images from MIPI camera modules.
