The real-time extension RealTime Suite is a library for hardware-dependent programming, communication, automation, and image processing in real-time. The library can be deployed in such applications as robotics, image processing, measurement, and control engineering, as well as automation.
As part of Kithara’s ongoing efforts to integrate all relevant interfaces and software components for machine vision with its software, OpenCV will be supported for the first time, beginning with version 3.0. This integration will enable users to instantly process image data captured by industrial cameras, as well as AVX2, an extension to the x86 instruction set architecture, in real-time.
Based on on C/C++, the OpenCV machine vision library enables users to utilize its multi-core features to reach an appropriately high amount of frames per second. Kithara’s RealTime suite complements this with guaranteed reaction times to achieve true real-time image processing, according to Kithara.
The combination of OpenCV and Kithara’s RealTime Suite software is significant for those looking to achieve real-time image processing, as it incorporates the free program library (OpenCV) with the increasing necessity of strict response times for machine vision, according to Uwe Jesgarz, managing director of Kithara Software.
