Media Cybernetics acquires DataCell scientific image-analysis assets

MAY 29--Media Cybernetics Inc. (Silver Spring, MD, USA; www.mediacy.com), an analytical imaging software provider, has acquired the scientific image-analysis assets of DataCell Ltd. (Finchampstead, Berkshire, UK; www.datacell.co.uk), an exclusive Media Cybernetics value-added reseller of image-acquisition hardware, related software, and imaging systems in the United Kingdom.

MAY 29--Media Cybernetics Inc. (Silver Spring, MD, USA; www.mediacy.com), an analytical imaging software provider, has acquired the scientific image-analysis assets of DataCell Ltd. (Finchampstead, Berkshire, UK; www.datacell.co.uk), an exclusive Media Cybernetics value-added reseller of image-acquisition hardware, related software, and imaging systems in the United Kingdom. DataCell's scientific image-analysis staff will remain in the United Kingdom as Media Cybernetics UK. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of DataCell's scientific imaging business represents Media Cybernetics' growing commitment to our business and customer base in the United Kingdom and the European community," says Doug Paxson, president and chief executive officer of Media Cybernetics.

As a result of this acquisition, Media Cybernetics UK will focus on analytical imaging software, hardware, and system sales. These systems will feature Image-Pro family software and IQbase image-informatics platforms, fully integrated with QImaging digital camera systems and other third-party platforms.

The seamless integration of these products offers a range of imaging systems from entry-level to fully automated analytical imaging workstations for life sciences, R&D, and industrial quality control. Media Cybernetics UK will be run by managing director Matthew Firth.
