OPTOCAT, which is the 3D image processing software used for Breuckmann’s stereoSCAN and smartSCAN 3D scanners, has been updated to include a new texture mapping module that enables the realistic color reproduction of 3D data. The texture mapping feature can be carried out by using the images captured by the scanning sensor or by using images taken with other cameras. It is also possible to complement the 3D data generated by a monochrome scanning sensor with color imagery or with multispectral data and a new algorithm maps color information to each triangle of a scanned object with sub pixel accuracy. In addition, the 3D data can be opened and processed in STL and PLY formats, as well as in the newly available export format Wavefront OBJ.
