Philips General Systems Components (Slatersville, RI; www.philipspcg.com) has formed Philips Image-Optics Modules business unit to design, develop, and manufacture CCD-based camera modules for medical, scientific, photography, machine-vision, security, and industrial applications. The new unit and Heimann Biometric Systems (Jena, Germany) have agreed on a collaborative effort to manufacture and market a new camera module for biometric-identification applications.
