Does Vision Systems Technology offer systems integration services?

We do not offer system integration; however, we do provide pre and post sales technical support to ensure the system integration of our products goes smoothly.

How have market changes and customer demands changed the way that you’ve approached business?

The internet has dramatically changed how users look for technology they need. Industry tradeshows were the place users sought out new technology, however, the internet has changed this. We now spend more time and resources increasing our website presence, making sure we are the first company a user sees in their search.

In what areas do you see the most growth?

Our company serves the higher end applications needing multi-megapixel resolution and high frame rates. This segment is growing, fueled by the release of new sensor technology.

What is your take on the current state of the machine vision market? (Strong, poor, etc?)

The machine vision market follows the economy. As the economy continues to do well, so does the machine vision market.

Is there a particular trend or product in the next few years that you see as “the next big thing?”

Advances in image sensor technology and IC computing power will continue to drive “image capture” devices just like we saw with the advent of the smart camera. My guess is, with new CMOS image sensor developments, we will see more on-chip integration of features and functions. This will lead to more functionality built in to the image capture device (camera).

What camera type do you think will be most popular in two years and why?

The interface to the computer is just the connection. What customers need is an easy-to-use interface from both a hardware and software perspective that does not limit the performance of the camera they want to use.

The technology, GigE, USB3, Firewire, Camera Link, and CoaXPress is really driven by the bandwidth needed by the camera. For example, lower resolution cameras not requiring a high nandwidth interface are well served by USB and GigE. Higher resolution and high frame rate cameras requiring high bandwidth interfaces are best served by Camera Link, Camera Link HS, and CoaXPress. I think going forward, digital camera interfaces will continue to be divided between the needs of lower resolution cameras and higher resolution cameras with high frame rates.
