AIA releases latest Global Vision Standards Update

The AIA has released the Global Vision Standards Update, which provides a look into the latest news surrounding machine vision standards, including Camera Link, Camera Link HS, GigE Vision, and USB3 Vision.

The AIA has released theGlobal Vision Standards Update, which provides a look into the latest news surrounding machine vision standards and the products that incorporate them.

Bob McCurrach, AIA Director, Standards Development first provided an update on the Fall International Vision Standards meeting, which is taking place the week of October 12 in Chicago, IL, USA. The event, which is sponsored by Components Express and the AIA, will include Technical Committee meetings for GigE Vision, Camera Link, Camera Link HS, GenICam, USB3 Vision and CoaXPress; as well as a Future Standards Forum Meeting and a PlugFest. McCurrach also mentioned ourJuly 15 webcast "How the Newest Machine Vision Standards Will Affect You," which included McCurrach and all the hardware, digital interface standards chairs.

In addition, it was noted that a few groups have formed in order to discuss standardization on topics in thevision lighting field. John Merva from Gardasoft leads a team looking at standardizing lighting command and control. During the London International Vision Standards meeting, it was determined that this could be handled within the GenICam Standard Feature Naming Convention (SNFC) module. Those interested are encouraged to contact John Merva.

The VDMA has also recognized the area of embedded vision as a key growth area that could benefit from standardization and has been hosting a working group that is reaching out to other industry groups to see if there are any opportunities. It is also noted that the AIA’s PlugFests for 2015/2016 are planned at the following venues:

  • ITE Show, Pacifico Conference Center Yokohama, Japan, December 2-3, 4:00PM - 5:00PM (Device verification only)
  • The Vision Show, Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA, USA, May 6, 2016, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • VISION 2016, Stuttgart, Germany, November 11, 2016, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
