OCTOBER 3--JVC Professional Products Co. (Wayne, NJ; www.jvc.com/pro/pr) has introduced its surveillance and remote imaging camera, the VN-C30U, engineered for network applications with both MPEG-1 and JPEG compression. The camera combines a 15X optical zoom lens and remote pan-and-tilt mechanism with a high-resolution, 380,000-pixel CCD and f/1.4 lens. The VN-C30U is ideal for difficult, even low-light settings--as low as 2.5 Lux. All of these versatile, user-friendly features are controllable via the included viewer/controller software, enabling the VN-C30U to achieve finer remote-monitoring results.

Equipped with both MPEG-1 and JPEG image-data-compression systems in a compact body, the VN-C30U can fulfill a wide range of uses. By switching between MPEG-1 for smooth moving images and high-resolution JPEG still pictures, the VN-C30U enables monitoring using the optimum system corresponding to the network environment application. Applications for the network camera include monitoring equipment in industrial facilities, operations, the surveillance of buildings, or retail shops over a LAN or WAN.
