Machine vision comes to Scotland

One of the major international conferences on computer vision and related areas -- the 22nd British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC) -- will be held in Dundee, Scotland, between August 29 and September 2.

One of the major international conferences on computer vision and related areas -- the 22nd British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC) -- will be held in Dundee, Scotland, between August 29 and September 2.

Organized by theBritish Machine Vision Association (Malvern, UK), the single-track program consists of oral and poster presentations as well as two invited talks. There is also a pre-conference tutorial and a post-conference students' workshop.

Topics will include statistics and machine learning for vision, stereo, calibration andgeometry, image-processing techniques and methods, video analysis, and document processing and recognition.

Keynote speaker Professor David Fleet from the University of Toronto will discuss the challenges involved in estimating andinterpreting human motion from video, while Professor Nikos Paragios from the Ècole Centrale de Paris & Ècole des Ponts will address the issues involved in creating large-scale realistic 3-D models.
