• #2: Telescope captures image of 84 million stars

    The VISTA infrared survey telescope at the European Southern Observatory's site in Chile enabled an international team of astronomers to create a monumental 108,200 x 81,500-pixel color image, one of the biggest astronomical images ever produced, revealing ancient stars at the center of the Milky Way.
