#7: Machine vision evaluates surface roughness

VIT University scientists in India have developed a CCD camera-based machine-vision system that gives surface-roughness metrology results comparable to a conventional stylus-probe method, but the noncontact technique allows nondestructive inspection of machined components during the production process.
