The Digital Imaging business unit of Jenoptik’s Optical Systems division (Jena, Germany) has been appointed as preferred supplier to Leica Camera (Solms, Germany) and will receive a corresponding award.

As a result of its production and fast ramp-up for production of the components for the Leica M9 range-finder camera, Jenoptik received the Preferred Supplier Award from Leica Systems. Jenoptik developed the electronic core components in conjunction with Leica and transferred them to mass production at the Jena site. Jenoptik says it has since delivered four times the originally planned volume of units, ensuring that volume production maintained its high quality standard at all times. As a result, the parties agreed to a further increase in the production volume.

As a result of their successful collaboration, the two partners will be extending it to new products and projects. Within the framework of the multiyear cooperation agreement the volume supplied by Jenoptik will be in the double-figure million euro range.

In its Digital Imaging business unit Jenoptik specializes in the development and manufacture of digital imaging systems. The components, modules, and systems are used in digital photography, microscopy, and applications for life sciences and biotechnology as well as in industrial metrology and traffic safety.
