Sill Optics partnered with Optotune to create a focus tunable telecentric lens that can be deployed into industrial inspection applications. The Gold-Level 2016 Innovators Award winning EL-16-40-TC electrically-tunable liquid lens from Optotune—which features a clear aperture of 16 mm and can be shaped from a flat zero-state into a plano-concave or plano-convex lens—was combined with a 2x magnifying telecentric lens from Sill Optics. Within milliseconds, different heights or working distances can be measured. The focus tunable telecentric lens features a maximum working distance change of about 13 mm, distortion error of less than 1%, and a telecentric error less than 0.1%.

In addition to releasing this lens, Sill Optics has also announced that Berndt Zingrebe, Managing Director, is celebrating his 75th birthday this February. Zingrebe has been with Sill Optics for 35 years, and has managed the company since 1994.
