Toshiba introduces SV-1000 digital video borescope with integrated illumination, touts industrial equipment inspection applications.

Industrial equipment inspection is touted by Toshiba America Information Systems as the ideal use for the company's new SV-1000 digital video borescope. A new 1mm x 1mm CMOS sensor and no requirement for a PC connection are the highlights for the SV-1000, a two-piece system that includes a flexible shaft inspection camera and a camera control unit that houses electrical connections, video outputs, and light control.

The SV-1000 borescope's 1.9m flexible shaft is equipped with integrated LED illumination and a 1.6mm-diameter inspection camera that produces images at 400 x 400 pixel resolution. The SV-1000's chip-on-tip camera is water-resistant.

The SV-1000's lens has a 120° field-of-view. Dual HDMI and USB 3.0 image outputs allow users to view captured images through a display and a computer simultaneously. Toshiba Imaging also offers PC-based image-viewing software for image display and image or video capture.

According to the manufacturer the SV-1000 is ideal for industrial tasks where space is limited. Specific, potential applications cited by Toshiba include inspection of aircraft engines and turbines, castings, tubing, tool and die, and electronic assemblies. The new illuminated borescope, according to Toshiba, is not appropriate for inspecting medical instruments or surgical devices.
