Basler AG Buys Majority of Indian Distribution Partner Company
Basler AG (Ahrensburg, Germany), a global provider of computer vision solutions and components, has acquired 76% of Alpha TechSys Automation (Pune, India), a distribution company and Basler distribution partner, according to a press release from Basler AG.
The purpose of the acquisition, says Basler and Alpha TechSys officials, is to increase Basler's footprint in the robust and steadily growing Indian machine vision market. In fact, according to a report by IMARC Group (Noida, India), a company that specializes in services such as market reports, feasibility studies, and competitive analyses, India’s machine vision market size in 2024 was around $592 million and projected to reach $1.023 billion by 2033. A separate report by Grand View Research (San Francisco, CA, USA ) estimated the Indian market size at $2.259 billion, with growth expected to reach $4.862 billion by 2030.
Under the acquisition agreement, Alpha TechSys will operate as Basler India. The remaining 24% of Alpha TechSys will remain under ownership of current owner/founder Harshal Pore, who will serve as managing director of Basler India.
Basler AG will continue to distribute other brands as well, say Basler officials.
"Business continuity is one of major goals during any integration project," says Christian Stoffers, Head of Sales for Basler AG. "We have been expanding our offering with third party products in many parts lately. It is our strategy to offer our customers the ingredients —hardware and pre-processing software—which they require to solve individual vision tasks."
Basler AG, which employs around 850 people worldwide, will hold an option to take over Alpha TechSys completely, in the future, according to Basler AG.
