VMT: Entry into Product-Based Vision Solutions
For many years, VMT has been implementing customized, turnkey automation systems for all industrial sectors and offers in-depth expertise in the field of stationary, high-precision 3D detection of objects that are analyzed using the company’s robust machine vision algorithms. With its new Ready-to-Integrate (RTI) approach, the company is now responding to the growing customer demand for defined, reproducible systems that do not need to be re-specified for every project. RTI solutions from VMT are clearly defined products with specified hardware and software components, as well as standardized interfaces to controllers, robots, and IT systems, which users can easily integrate and operate on their own.
VMT is now introducing its first machine vision product based on the RTI approach: VMT BeadMap enables inline quality assurance of applied adhesive and sealing beads and checks parameters such as position, geometry, continuity, and volume of material beads immediately after application. The 3D system is installed as a stationary inline inspection station on production lines with minimal integration effort and is immediately ready for operation without prior teach-in or connection to robot or axis controllers. Depending on the object size, users can choose between three VMT BeadMap variants with working ranges of 500, 1000, and 2000 mm. Thanks to fast 3D image capture and evaluation, inspection results are available within a short period of time. During product changes, new objects as well as variants of sealing and adhesive beads can be prepared offline in parallel to production to achieve high cost-effectiveness.
Developing custom inspection systems is time-consuming and expensive. In addition, customers increasingly want to decide on the level of integration for their projects by themselves. Standardized machine vision solutions such as VMT BeadMap, with a fixed set of features, standardized interfaces, and intuitive operation, offer a cost-effective way to implement 3D machine vision solutions without requiring in-depth specialized knowledge.
VMT will continue to offer customized, turnkey machine vision and automation systems for all industrial sectors. However, with the addition of the new RTI products to its portfolio, VMT customers will now be able to choose whether to purchase a fully integrated solution from VMT or to integrate and commission an RTI product by themselves.
