MAY 15--Tower Semiconductor USA (San Jose, CA;www.towersemi.com) has established an East Coast office in Northborough, MA, that will open this month. The new office will function as Tower USA's eastern US center for sales, design support, and technical services. Maury Hiers will head the office's sales team, and Steve Ransom will lead the engineering staff. Both joined Tower USA earlier this year.

"Therefore, it is essential that we expand our US customer base and maintain strong relationships with existing customers in the United States. Our new office will allow us to increase Tower USA's presence on the East Coast, where the IC engineering and design community is very active. We will be able to more rapidly pursue business opportunities for our new Fab 2 facility and provide more localized service to customers in the region."
Tower Semiconductor Ltd., headquartered in Migdul Haemek, Israel, is an independent wafer manufacturer that provides design support, manufacturing, and turnkey services for integrated circuits on silicon wafers in geometries from 1.0 to 0.18 μm. When completed, its Fab 2 facility will offer 0.18-μm and smaller process technologies and produce up to 33,000 200-mm wafers per month. Fab 2 features advanced CMOS technology licensed from Toshiba Corp., as well as foundry-standard technology, which is applicable to digital, mixed-signal, CMOS image-sensor and flash memory processes.
