Robotic vision system ices perfect cakes

Nov. 12, 2013

A collaborative project between Scorpion Vision, Mitsubishi Electric, and Quasar Automation leverages robotics, 3D vision technology, and system integration expertise into a vision system which adapts to the shape and surface profile of individual cakes, enabling precise and consistent icing decoration. The solution utilizes the Scorpion Vision 3D Stinger Camera from Tordivel to scan the surface of the cake in less than one second and that data is relayed to the Mitsubishi robot, which provide proportional control during the icing dispensing process.
