SPARC lights up the VMEbus
Force Computer`s SPARC CPU-8VT is a 170-MHz TurboSPARC-based board with 512 kbytes of L2 cache that delivers 143/119 SPECint/fp92. The board supports 16 ¥ 128-Mbyte DRAM and up to 4-Mbyte flash. Dual SCSI interfaces on the board protect data from drive failure allowing disk mirroring or RAID configurations. The board also features dual Ethernet interfaces. Two Sbus slots allow for system expansion using hundreds of readily available third-party cards. Preconfigured with 16-64-Mbyte memory, the board is compatible with Sun`s SPARCstation 5 family and Solaris OS. Available in April, the board costs $7995.
