OCTOBER 27--Symagery Microsystems Inc. (Ottawa, Canada;www.symagery.com) has signed an agreement with Psion Teklogix (www.psionteklogix.com) to deliver Symagery's SX4000 image-reading system for deployment in Psion Teklogix 7535 hand-held computers. Symagery's SX4000 image-reader system enables Psion Teklogix to offer powerful image-capture and barcode-reading features in the 7535hand-held computer. Psion Teklogix customers in the warehousing and automotive industries can now use the 7535 hand-held with the Symagery image engine to process high volumes of goods bearing two-dimensional (2-D) barcodes and can take high-quality images of damaged goods. Using third-party decoding software, Psion Teklogix also plans to provide optical-character-recognition functionality.
The SX4000 comprises an image engine based on the Symagery CMOS
megapixel image sensor and a vision processor interface IC with an embedded decode software suite. The SX4000 incorporates the key imaging components required to integrate digital image capture and to decode linear (1-D) or 2-D barcode symbologies. Symagery is supplying Psion Teklogix with the ULR model of the SX4000 that offers all the functionality of the standard model but with an increased depth of field, enabling end users to read larger barcodes or to capture images and data from a greater distance.
