New Camera Link frame grabbers from Belgian-based Euresys have implemented a new feature that will allow them to work at longer distances from the camera to which they are interfaced.

Thanks to the addition of the Extended Camera Link Cable Operation (ECCO) the company’s Grablink Full, DualBase, and Base frame grabbers go far beyond the original Camera Link specification in terms of cable length.

Depending on the clock frequency and the quality of the cable, which can vary from one cable to another, the ECCO feature allows the Grablink boards to operate with cable lengths 30% greater than the length specified by the Camera Link standard, and those achievable by the other boards with a "conventional" implementation.

In a related move, the company has also ensured that the frame grabbers are also compatible with PoCL Lite cameras, allowing them to interface to the smallest and lightest Camera Link cameras on the market.
