Ultrasound imaging

May 17, 2013

MobiUS SP1 from Mobisante is the world’s first smartphone-based ultrasound imaging system. It consists of a hand-held ultrasound probe transducer, which plugs directly into a smartphone. A physician or user applies transmission gel directly to the end of the device and brings the probe head in contact with the skin of the patient, overlaying the internal structures for imaging, according to the Smartphone Physical website. The user then moves the probe to modulate the position of the imaging plane until specific structures are visualized. Images can be captured, labeled, stored and sent for post-procedure analysis.
