Automate 2026 is almost here, and I can’t wait! The show, the largest automation and robotics event in North America, hits Chicago’s McCormick Place June 22-25. Automate is just the place to see everything—sensory overload in every aspect of the term. I mean, come on, where else are you going to be greeted by, say, a robot dog wanting a belly scratch as you walk through the doors of this massive, cavernous building already brimming with the energy of all things high tech and automated?
I know I’ve said it before, but good, bad, ugly, or indifferent, the breakneck pace of technological advancement these days is astonishing. One can hardly catch a breath before another amazing innovation knocks on the door.
Speaking of new automation development, I’m glad to see A3 celebrating those who encourage and develop future automation innovators. Specifically, A3 has named Jim Devaprasad its 2026 Educator of the Year. Devaprasad, a professor at Lake Superior State College, has been dedicated to encouraging, developing and empowering young minds exploring automation, inside and outside the classroom, for the past four decades. You can read more about his service and accomplishments below.
