The Automated Imaging Association (AIA; Ann Arbor, MI, USA) has announced the appointment of Robert McCurrach as director of standards development to work closely with Jeff Fryman due to the increased standards activity the trade organization has seen recently, requiring additional full-time staff.

Standards play a key role in machine-vision and imaging markets by ensuring interoperability of components and shortening the time it takes to get new products to market.

McCurrach's more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing have focused on global engineering, program, and process management, mainly in the nuclear, defense, and automotive industries. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology.

“I’m eager to put my background and knowledge to work in promoting AIA’s commitment to improving and expanding their standards program. I look forward to working on standards enhancements and supporting emerging standards within the machine-vision industry,” says McCurrach.
