JANUARY 2--Visionics Corp. (Minnetonka, MN, and Jersey City, NJ; www.visionics.com) has received orders for nine FingerPrinter CMS live scan systems from seven airports across the country: Albuquerque, NM; Burbank, CA; Cincinnati, OH; Dallas Love Field, TX; Harlingen, TX; Knoxville, TN; and Wichita, KS. The total value of the orders including maintenance is approximately $350K. Installation is expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Visionics FingerPrinter CMS is an integrated live-scan management system that captures, prints, and transmits fingerprints electronically. The system captures fingerprints of applicants and transmits the images to the Office of Personnel Management, which, in turn, submits the image for search against the FBI Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System database.

The system assists the airports in complying with the Airport Security Improvement Act of 2000, which mandates fingerprint background checks for certain airport and airline employees. In the wake of the September terrorist attacks, this requirement was extended to all airport employees and reduced the compliance period from three years to one year.
