OPTICS 1 Inc. wins $25 million Navy contract

OCTOBER 2--OPTICS 1 Inc. (Westlake Village, CA; www.optics1.com) has won a contract from the Naval Air Warfare Center (Lakehurst, NJ) worth $25 million over five years to develop a new imaging optical system called AMOSS (Advanced Multi-spectral Optical Surveillance System).

OCTOBER 2--OPTICS 1 Inc. (Westlake Village, CA; www.optics1.com) has won a contract from the Naval Air Warfare Center (Lakehurst, NJ) worth $25 million over five years to develop a new imaging optical system called AMOSS (Advanced Multi-spectral Optical Surveillance System).The first unit will be delivered to the Navy in March 2003 at a cost of $4.8 million.

Said Robert E. Fischer, president and founder of OPTICS 1, "This contract is the direct result of our government's commitment to small business through the SBIR program. Under previous phases of this development program, our firm designed and prototyped a next-generation multispectral-imaging device. Winning this contract for delivery of further systems is a significant step forward in our continuing evolution into a supplier of precision optical systems."
