Velodyne Lidar (Morgan Hill, CA, USA), a manufacturer of high-definition lidar sensors, has signed an agreement with Argo Corp. to serve as Velodyne's exclusive reseller of the 3-D HDL-64E and HDL-32E lidar sensor models in Japan.
The company's sensors are primarily designed for robot-integrated vision systems and unmanned vehicles, markets served by Argo.
"Japan is a region with some of the leading robotics and autonomous vehicle companies in the world. Velodyne has established some business in Japan on a direct basis and looks forward to dramatically expanding that business with Argo's involvement," says Brent Schwarz, vice president of Velodyne Lidar.
The rugged HDL-64E lidar sensor is designed to support large autonomous ground and 3-D mobile mapping vehicles. It features 64 lasers aligned across a 27° vertical field of fiew (FOV). The sensor produces a 360° 3-D point cloud at refresh rates of 5-20 Hz and a density of more than 1.2 million distance measurement points per second.
The HDL-32E is a small, lightweight, and rugged sensor that enables applications including autonomous navigation, 3-D mobile mapping, and security. It features 32 lasers aligned across a 40° vertical FOV and generates 700,000 distance measurement points per second.
