DECEMBER 28--After a record-breaking year for The Automated Imaging Association (AIA; Ann Arbor, MI, USA; www.machinevisiononline.org)--membership grew to 264 member companies from 24 countries and its Web site, Machine Vision Online, had 1,692,935 visits for just the first 11 months, the organization offers a brief preview of things planned for 2007.

The year begins with the 15th annual AIA Business Conference in Orlando, FL, USA; January 31--February 2, where the new Market Study results will be unveiled. Next is the MV China Show in Shanghai.

In April a series of one-day Machine Vision Basics Workshops will begin in selected cities throughout North America. The AIA expects to begin on the West coast of the USA and move eastward and anticipates between 50 and 100 new and potential users at each workshop. The cities and dates are being finalized.

June 12-14 brings the International Robots & Vision Show in Rosemont (Chicago), IL, USA. It will be collocated with Sensors Expo and GPS World at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

In the fall the Machine Vision Basics Workshops will continue and two new events will be unveiled: Machine Vision for Medical Device Manufacturing, a two-day workshop that will be held in Southern California, and the North American Vision Conference, an in-depth conference targeting current and prospective users of vision.

The Vision Show West will not be held in 2007. It will be rebranded in 2008 as The Vision Show. The AIA strongly believes an annual national show (as opposed to East and West regionals) is the best way to deliver a powerful audience for its members. The Vision Show dates and locations will be announced in the near future.
