"e2v is expanding based on the need for 'connected objects and capabilities,' he said. "We are benefitting from large scale technology advancements in the industry, and imaging is becoming easier to integrate."
As for the industry on the whole, he noted that the need for automation and the benefits of machine vision are driving sales, and that a number of markets, including intelligent transportation systems, food and beverage inspection, medical imaging, automotive inspection, and aerospace all contribute to overall growth.
"There is a broad spectrum of applications for machine vision and we are always monitoring market needs and specific solutions to develop our products," he said.
Some new examples of products that e2v has developed are its UNiiQA+ CMOS line scan camera, which can be seen in the line scan camera demo video, as well as the Onyx CMOS image sensor. These were developed with a range of applications in mind, according to Teysseyre.
"We are at the early stages of the value chain in the (machine vision) market, so we are designing products that meet a wide range of markets."
Lastly, Teysseyre noted that the decision of whether to use CMOS or CCD represents an interesting topic to monitor going forward.
"The adoption of CMOS sensors has been excellent, but the full potential of CMOS has not yet been realized. Global shutter efficiency must meet a wide range of applications."
