People counting app uses 3D point clouds for anonymous data collection

March 8, 2021
The PeCo SensorApp allows occupancy monitoring of defined spaces.

The PeopleCounter (PeCo) SensorApp, designed for the MRS1000 3D LiDAR sensor, enables the differentiation of people from other objects in the FOV by only counting objects above 1.4 m, while other objects are blanked out.

Measurement data is generated as a point cloud, identifying persons from their contours, and gathered anonymously. Because the sensor has four layers, direction of movement is clearly established, and defined zones can be established. This allows monitoring of total occupancy within the defined space. Combining multiple sensors allows coverage of larger areas.
