Available first for Basler’sdart board-level cameras, BCON is a newly-developed interface that the integration of machine vision cameras into embedded vision technology and equipment.

BCON is based on low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS), a standard interface for high-speed data transfer. It offers flexibility for connecting with LVDS-based technology such as FPGA boards and System on a Chip (SoC) technology. Additionally, BCON features a flat flex cable that provides input and output signals and power supply.

Basler’s dart board-level cameras are the first cameras to be available with the BCON interface. These BCON-enabled cameras can be used with an embedded processing board to enable lean embedded vision applications. Furthermore, Basler’s pylon camera software suite is available for the dart with BCON interface, and supports Linux on x86 or ARM-based systems. In doing so, the programming interface for creating user-specific applications is identical to other interfaces, such as USB3 Vision.

Currently, the BCON interface is available in the following camera models:

  • daA1280-54bc and daA1280-54bm: Color and monochrome cameras with 1.2 MPixel AR0134 CMOS image sensor from ON Semiconductor, 54 fps
  • daA1600-60b and daA1600-60bm: Color and monochrome cameras with 2 MPixel EV76C570 CMOS image sensor from e2v, 60 fps
  • daA2500-14bc and daA2500-14bm: Color and monochrome cameras with 5 MPixel MT9P031 CMOS image sensor from ON Semiconductor, 14 fps
