JANUARY 31--Dalsa Corporation (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada;www.dalsa.com) has received a production order for high-performance digital cameras totaling more than $2.2 million from a leading producer of capital equipment for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The order is expected to be delivered over the next 12 to 15 months.

The cameras will be used in a new generation of fabrication tools. These systems will enable semiconductor manufacturers to maintain better process quality and control, improve yield, lower costs, and accelerate the ramp-up of leading-edge lithographies and processes.

"Today's order is significant as it marks the transition from development activity to follow-on production orders. Over time, we expect that production orders from semiconductor capital equipment OEMs will be much more significant in financial terms than R&D contracts," commented Savvas Chamberlain, Dalsa CEO. "Today's order for high performance digital image capture technology shows that our company has been successful in developing critical, enabling imaging technology that is required for the semiconductor capital equipment industry."
