FEBRUARY 6--SMaL Camera Technologies (Cambridge, MA; www.SMaLcamera.com), developer of electronic imaging solutions, has launched its V1200C Professional NetCam with Autobrite, which enables security-and-surveillance manufacturers and private-label companies to add an all-digital "smart" network camera to their product lines. Also now available is the V1100C, which enables OEMs to offer an Autobrite CCTV camera in standard analog format. The V1200C and the V1100C are available as boards or finished cameras for integration and private labeling by OEMs and large systems integrators.
SMaL's Autobrite technology was introduced at the 2001 International Security Conference East. Built into the company's imagers and ASICs, Autobrite is intelligent exposure technology that provides total scene visibility. Unlike backlight compensation, which saturates bright areas, Autobrite provides 500 to 1000 times more dynamic range, so details in both bright and dim areas are clearly visible at the same time. This technology translates into such end-user benefits as better security through improved visibility, easier installation, and lower total system cost.
The V1200C has a built-in Web server so the camera can be connected directly to any Ethernet connection. It streams high-quality VGA resolution video at a full 30 frames/s, enables remote video monitoring, compresses video for efficient storage on hard drives, and automatically stores and e-mails images when alarms are triggered. In addition, the V1200C features a powerful on-board microprocessor for intelligent image-recognition algorithms such as human motion detection or object tracking.
Such applications work well on the V1200C because Autobrite prevents the saturation and shadow that so often hamper performance of these applications when they are used with standard surveillance cameras. For OEMs and system integrators who wish to introduce an analog CCTV camera with Autobrite, SMaL offers the V1100C, which is available in both NTSC and PAL formats.
