FEBRUARY 16--Macon, GA, USA-based B&D Industrial (www.bdindustrial.com) has acquired Simco Technologies, an Atlanta, GA, USA-based distributor (www.simcotech.com). Simco's products will supplement what B&D now offers, he said. "Years past, we were competitors, but they got away from most of the products we handle and got into more high-tech things," B&D president and CEO Andy Nations said. "(The acquisition) will give us a wider range of products and services." Nations declined to reveal the sales price.

B&D has been an independently owned provider of industrial products and services to mining, manufacturing, and engineering companies since 1947. Simco's revenue last year was $10 million, Nations said. A family-owned company, Simco distributes industrial electronics, sensors, drives, motion control, machine safety, and machine-vision systems. The majority of Simco's employees are in Norcross, but the company has offices in Columbus and Savannah and the Florida cities of Jacksonville and Tampa.

B&D Industrial has nearly 40 facilities in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. With B&D's operating units--Bearings and Drives, Scale Systems, and B&D Service--the company had $82 million in annual revenue. B&D Industrial, which has about 320 employees in six states, will retain Simco's 30 workers, said Nations.
