@VISION with Chris Mc Loone, Day 3: Tools for the Toolbox

What we have in the vision industry, however, are tools for our toolboxes.

Day 3 of VISION 2021 has ended, and is now in the history books. Again, everyone I spoke to said the show exceeded their expectations, which is a great way to come out of the gate for the first time as we still emerge from the Pandemic.

I spoke with hardware exhibitors as well as software exhibitors this week, and the one thing that crystallized today is that when talking about machine vision innovations and what will work for different applications, it really does come down the answer I’ve heard over and over again since I’ve been with Vision System Design: It depends.

No application is the same as another (in most cases) and no solution is the same as the other, also in most cases. What we have in the vision industry, however, are tools for our toolboxes. There is no one size fits all. Every innovation I saw this week has its place in the machine vision market. Every tool in the toolbox can be used for its particular task.

So, my first VISION show has come to a close. I have no doubt that show organizers started work on VISION 2022 at 5:01 local time today.

By the way, one of my favorite parts of the show didn’t even involve the products on the floor. It was kicking off every day with Queen’s One Vision!
