ProPhotonix (AIM:PPIX; OTC:STKR.PK; Salem, NH, USA), a manufacturer of LED systems and laser modules, has appointed Luster LightTech (Beijing, China) as its exclusive distributor of machine vision illumination products in China and Hong Kong. The agreement with Luster LightTech builds upon ProPhotonics current position and distribution network in Europe and the US.
Mark W. Blodgett, Chairman and CEO of ProPhotonix, said, “Our new partnership with Luster LightTech positions ProPhotonix to gain market share in this increasingly important sector of the Chinese manufacturing industry.”
ProPhotonix is the new name for StockerYale--the name change was made in June 2010. At the time, Blodgett said, "Following last year’s sale of the company’s North American operations combined with our increased focus on leveraging our LED technology into new, much larger markets not previously addressed by the company, we believe adopting a new name and brand identity is a logical next step in our growth strategy.”
Luster LightTech, established in June 1996, comprises four business units covering both the vision and imaging and fiber optic communication sectors. The company’s products include illuminations and lens, sensors and cameras, specified imaging modules, and machine vision software.
Isabel Yang, founder and General Manager of Luster LightTech, added: “With our established product offering and expertise within the machine vision sector in China and Hong Kong, this appointment will enable us to add further value to our existing customer base while growing ProPhotonix’ geographic reach."
