Through the years, I have had the privilege to work with some amazing people. Editors of B2B publications rely on experts in the fields they cover to help them understand the information they share with their audiences.
When I stepped into the head of content role at Vision Systems Design in January, I knew I would have a lot to learn, and I still do. Having an active and robust editorial advisory board has made the transition smoother and tremendously rewarding.
This year marks our 30th anniversary, so our Senior Editor Jim Tatum asked members of our editorial advisory board to share their perspectives on machine vision’s past, present, and future. After all, sometimes the best way to understand where an industry is heading is to ask the people who have watched it evolve.
David L. Dechow, one of the members that Jim interviewed and VSD's contributing editor, recently wrote a great technical piece for us, Practical Machine Vision: Leveraging Machine Learning Tool. In it, he examines what machine learning means in a machine vision context and where it can most effectively improve inspection performance and system capabilities.
Finally, you won't want to miss the first installment of our series Meet VSD’s Editorial Advisory Board. Our inaugural profile puts the spotlight on Daniel Lau, Ph.D., IEEE Fellow and a pioneer in machine vision innovation. I'll warn you, it's lengthy, but it is well worth reading.

Until next time, stay curious.
