CMOSIS has announced the opening of an office in North Carolina under new subsidiary CMOSIS America LLC, established in January 2015.

The United States office will be led by Bruce Bradford, who previously held similar positions for companies such as e2v and Fairchild Imaging. Bradford will serve as Director of Business Development managing U.S. operations to grow CMOSIS' business and customer base in the Americas.

"With the establishment of CMOSIS America LLC we have committed a substantial investment in our local presence in the U.S. to better support our existing American customer base and pursue new business opportunities," said Lou Hermans, Chief Operating Officer of CMOSIS.

Hermans added that Bradford’s role in the worldwide CMOSIS organization will benefit the company going forward.

"Bruce’s distinguished career and professional experience in the marketplace of CMOS image sensors and camera systems is elevating our business activities in the Americas to the next level,” he said.

Bradford himself expressed excitement over his joining of the team and the opening of CMOSIS America LLC.

"It is truly motivating to see CMOSIS’ commitment to the innovation of image sensor technologies that American markets demand. I value CMOSIS as a top-notch company, which has developed a broad range of unique high-performance CMOS image sensors meeting the increased demand of existing and emerging, new imaging applications."

This isn’t the only recent news involving the expansion of CMOSIS. This past August, the company announced the acquisition of AWAIBA, a Swiss company that manufactures line scan CMOS image sensors designed for industrial web inspection, sub-millimeter CMOS camera modules for endoscopy, and on-board automotive cameras. This acquisition, according to CMOSIS, was made possible after CMOSIS was acquired by TA Associates, a global growth private equity firm.
