A 2017 Innovators Awards Platinum-level honoree, the Piranha4 line scan polarization camera from Teledyne DALSA is now in full production. Polarization imaging, according to the company, significantly enhances detection capability in many demanding applications. The Piranha4-2k polarization camera uses Teledyne DALSA’s quadlinear 2048 x 4 CMOS image sensor with nanowire micro-polarizer filters and captures multiple native polarization state data without any interpolation. With a maximum line rate of 70 kHz, the camera outputs independent images of 0°(s), 90° (p), and 135° polarization states as well as an unfiltered channel. Additionally, the camera is available in Camera Link Base, Medium, Full, or Deca formats and is 8, 10, or 12-bit depth selectable.
