Industrial Internet of Things: How important is IIoT in machine vision?

June 25, 2018
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), also known as Industry 4.0, has become a significant buzzword over the past few years. But what does it really mean, and what type of impact can this (or does this already) have on the machine vision market?

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), also known as Industry 4.0, has become a significant buzzword over the past few years. But what does it really mean, and what type of impact can this (or does this already) have on the machine vision market?

On the surface, IIoT and the enabling technologies within the space—including

embedded computing devices, cloud computing, cameras and smart cameras, software, and artificial intelligence—have the potential to improve productivity, reduce waste and downtime, optimize manufacturing processes, and overall, improve machine vision applications.

But we are curious about what systems integrators, end users, and those otherwise within the machine vision market think about IIoT and its role in machine vision.
